Complexity

There’s a link to a really interesting paper floating around on the web today. Its about complexity in software development and the authors’ approach to dealing with it. While I’m not so convinced about thier solutions, I do love thier introduction on complexity and the feasibility of testing. For me the money quote in the article from Hoare in 1980 is:

I conclude that there are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult.

Unfortunately the second method is far more common.
